Type Locality and Naming

Southernmost Anhui. The Likou Gr was named by Xia Bangdong et al. in 1962. The typical section is situated in Likou in Qimen County, Anhui Province.

Synonym: (沥口组)


Lithology and Thickness

The Likou Gr is a suite of low-grade metamorphic volcanic rock and can be subdivided into two formations. The lower one, the Dengjia Fm, is composed of clastic rock with a variable grain size. The upper one, the Puling Fm, is andesite lava. [See those formation entries for details.] Its total thickness is 1087 m.

Relationships and Distribution

Lower contact

It rests unconformably on the underlying Shuangqiaoshan Gr; or conformable on the Shangxi Gr.

Upper contact

It is conformably overlain by the Xiuning Fm

Regional extent

Southernmost Anhui. The Likou Group is considered to correspond to the horizon of the Shangshu Fm or the Luokedong Gr.

Age 

A LA-ICP-MS date of 804.2±7.7 Ma was acquired from the Dengjia Fm. (Zeng Yan et al., 2019). late-Late Qingbaikouan (late Tonian) on schematic stratigraphic column.
